Pacini recognised for coaching success
February 8, 2006
Lasell Head Mens Soccer Coach, Giovanni Pacini, has been named “College Coach of the Year” by the Eastern Massachusetts High School Soccer Coaches Association. Coach Pacini will be honored at the EMASS High School All Star Banquet on February 12th in Newton, MA.

“I'm certainly very honored to be recognized by the eastern Mass soccer coaches. It was at the high school level where I first began my career in coaching,” said Pacini, who coached at Weymouth North High School from 1981 to 1985. During his tenure there, he coached the first ever Weymouth HS team to qualify for a state tournament in 1982 and his team reached the south sectional finals in 1985.

After stops at Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Eastern Nazarene College, Coach Pacini arrived at Lasell College in 1998 to develop the first ever mens soccer program there. Since that time, the program has achieved 6 winning seasons, a regional Top 10 ranking, appearances in the NCAA national and ECAC regional championship tournaments, and won a North Atlantic Conference championship. Coach Pacini has also earned two NAC “Coach of the Year” awards.

His work in the game has carried over to the area of coaching education and player development as he serves as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Technical Coordinator in Massachusetts and is a member of the National Goalkeeper Academy Staff.
