Youth & High School
Local side heads to Scotland
April 12, 2007
On Wednesday, thirteen Massachusetts high school players from the Bridgewater / Raynham International Soccer Club traveled to Scotland for a nine day soccer and cultural exchange.
The boys, ages 15-17, play for their local high schools (Bridgewater/Raynham Regional, Cardinal Spellman, Coyle & Cassidy and Taunton High) as well as several local town and club teams (Bridgewater Youth Soccer, Cape Cod Crusaders, Nor'easter Stingers, South Shore United Blazers, Taunton Eagles and Taunton Youth Soccer).
The Bridgewater & Raynham International Soccer Club (BRISC) was established in the fall of 1982 with the purpose of having its members travel to other countries to meet people, learn about heritage, traditions and way of life and participate in friendly soccer matches.
"We believe in good competition and good quality of play but we also believe in the development of the athlete as an individual," said Judy Locke, President of BRISC. "The youth that have traveled with us have truly learned to appreciate the value of their community and their American heritage."
The team includes Ian Kelly, Brandon Locke, Shayne Locke, Brendan Martin, Blaine Mota, Nick Mulcahey, Skylar Nelson, David Pedro, Patrick Quinn, Matthew Sanders, Tyler Souza, Matthew Stickney, Cory Wentworth. They will travel with their coaches Jeff Locke and Barry Sanders.
