Johnson looks for foreign chance
March 6, 2007

Ryan Johnson, a native of Melrose, MA, looks set to pursue a career overseas after he failed to reach an agreement over a new contract with MLS.

After a standout career at Oregon State University, Johnson was drafted by Real Salt Lake with the 26th pick of the 2006 SuperDraft, only to be traded during the regular season to the Chicago Fire. Now he is set to move on again, with Sweden thought to be a possible destination. The Fire will retain his MLS rights.

Johnson, who made his debut for Jamaica in a 1-1 tie with USA in April 2006, has featured in ten games in MLS. He made three substitute appearances for RSL before adding six more cameos off the bench with Chicago, for whom he also made his full debut.
