January 24, 2007
New Hampshire goalkeeper, Brian Levey, was the highest pick amongst a number of players with links to New England in the 2007 USL College Player Draft. Levey, who played for the Cape Cod Crusaders in the PDL for two years, was selected with the sixth overall pick by the Atlanta Silverbacks.

Atlanta returned to New England for its second pick, selecting Georgia native, Zach Kirby. However, that may be as close as the Georgia side comes to getting their man, as the Boston University defender intends to join up with the Los Angeles Galaxy, having been selected by the MLS side in the Supplemental Draft.
Another former Cape Cod Cruader, PJ Scheufele, completed the trio of local names taken, when he was picked by the Rochester Rhinos with the penultimate (25th overall) selection of the second round.
